The Dynamics of Abuse

Testimonials

I loved this course and found it alot more helpful than any professionals I have seen in the past. It was very knowledgable and i learned alot. The course met more than my expectations. Lynn constructs the course with the upmost compassion and empathy and i learned so much from Lynn, she is so knowledgable in all aspects of abuse!

The Child Abuse module was, personally, the most interesting part of the course because I related to everything. I learned I had been carrying and holding onto many more things than I realised. It was so profoundly informative and it will shape the way I parent my future children. It was really beautiful and eye-opening - especially learning about how children should be treated. I have had so many therapists and councillors from a young age and no-one has explained abuse to me like this.

I think discrimination was a big one for me because I hadn't even realised some of the viewpoints I'd picked up from family or those around me growing up were totally wrong and I'd never even questioned them.

That's these behaviors of the abuser is not a mental health problem and that they can be unlearned if they want to learn. How far they can actually go and the impact it has on everyone involved.

2025 course Summary

Personal Realisations and Accountability

Several respondents found it most interesting to realise their own experiences of abuse, often recognising forms of abuse they had previously overlooked (such as hidden abuse and non-physical elements of physical abuse).

This led to personal shifts, including moving from feeling like a victim to taking accountability for instances where they had been abusive to others, particularly during addiction.

Scope and Types of Abuse: A key interest was the vast scope of abuse, including seeing all different types of abuse, realizing how much abuse is happening globally, and understanding the extent of their exposure to abuse from a young age.

Specific Modules and Topics: The Child Abuse module was highly interesting for one respondent due to its relatability, leading to a profound understanding of carried issues and shaping future parenting.

Other specific topics mentioned were discrimination, human trafficking, and learning that abuser behaviors are not mental health problems but can be unlearned.

Validation and Impact: The course provided confirmation that the respondents were not to blame for what they had suffered, and it offered insights into the impacts of abuse on victims and the potential for everyone to change.
